At Dr. Grace Orthodontics, airway orthodontics is a growth-guided approach that considers breathing, sleep, craniofacial development, and long-term stability alongside dental alignment.
Dr. Grace W. Simco is a board-certified orthodontist with advanced training in airway health, craniofacial growth, sleep-disordered breathing, and integrative orthodontics, serving patients throughout Bucks County and the Greater Philadelphia region.
Thoughtful, Growth-Guided Orthodontic Care

Airway orthodontics looks beyond straight teeth. It focuses on how the jaws, palate, tongue, and facial structures develop in relation to breathing and sleep. When the upper jaw is narrow or growth is restricted, it can contribute to:
-
Mouth breathing
-
Snoring or sleep-disordered breathing
-
Chronic congestion
-
Poor tongue posture
-
Daytime fatigue or difficulty concentrating
-
Underdeveloped jaw structure
-
Facial imbalance
-
Chronic TMD concerns
By addressing these issues early—or correcting them later—Dr. Grace helps patients breathe better, sleep better, and grow into their healthiest selves.
Airway orthodontics is not a separate specialty, but an orthodontic approach that integrates airway-aware diagnosis into individualized treatment planning.

Our Airway-Focused Approach at Dr. Grace Orthodontics

Not all “airway orthodontics” is the same
At our Bucks County practice, airway evaluation is diagnostic, not assumptive, and treatment is growth-guided, not one-size-fits-all.
Our approach may include:

-
3D imaging allows us to assess airway anatomy, skeletal relationships, and jaw position — not just dental alignment.

-
We carefully differentiate when dental expansion may be sufficient and when true skeletal expansion (such as MARPE or MSE) is indicated.

-
Especially in children and adolescents, timing matters. We evaluate facial growth patterns to support healthy development and long-term stability.

-
Including MARPE, MSE, and TAD-supported orthodontics, when appropriate, to address transverse deficiencies while respecting facial balance.

-
When indicated, we work alongside ENTs, sleep physicians, myofunctional therapists, and other specialists to support breathing, sleep quality, and function.

Who May Benefit From Airway Orthodontics
Airway-focused orthodontic evaluation may be beneficial for:
-
Children with mouth breathing, snoring, narrow palates, or crowding
-
Adolescents with facial growth imbalance, sleep concerns, or relapse risk
-
Adults with TMJ symptoms, previous orthodontic relapse, airway concerns, or sleep-related issues
Not every patient requires airway intervention — and that distinction matters.
Our philosophy is thoughtful evaluation first, treatment second.
